About

In the year of 2016, I purchased my very first camera from a close friend who no longer needed his Nikon D3200. I had no idea how to take photos or even edit them. A couple of impromptu photoshoots later, I was unhappy with my progress and tossed the camera back in its bag, and stored it away. Two years later in November 2018, I decided to give it another try. That was the spark that created the hypothetical flame.

I am very open to any opportunities that deal with media, business, photography; essentially anything (I'm a jack of all trades).  If you would like to book with me for any photography services, click the contact button above and surf my portfolio to get a sense of my vision! WHY DO YOU CALL YOURSELF EPICANDRE?

While taking an Afro-Orientalism class at UNL, I read the book 'Epic of Sunjata' (there are many spellings) and became fascinated with the character Sundiata Keita. At a young age, he had trouble walking on his own until he found the branch of S'ra, which enabled him to be able to walk. He eventually became very strong and became a Mansa (king of kings), becoming the first ruler of the Mali empire.

*Remember, this is an epic poem so this was something spoken by word and there are different versions of this story.*

Something so simple as using a camera helped me grow mentally and see life through an artistic lens. I grow stronger every photoshoot and I pull inspiration from almost everything around me, every person I meet, and every thought that I think. I felt unsure of where my life was headed and what my passion was until I found my branch of S'ra.
